Who

Student Loan Fund is made up of individuals directly impacted by student loan debt committed to reconstructing the predatory lending systems and practices negatively impacting us, our families, and our communities. We are nonprofit leaders, artists, truck drivers, lawyers, social workers, chefs, teachers and more.

We believe in collective liberation through collective action. We are committed to building CT student loan borrower power by identifying leaders and developing their skills to help build a strong and durable movement. A movement to cancel student debt and make state and community colleges free and well-funded.

What WE DO

Student Loan Fund is borrower-led and committed to organizing and changing higher education financing systems. Student loan debt is a big problem, but so are the systems that create that debt. We research issues and hold public officials accountable for making policy change to benefit our communities. We are organizing for full student debt cancellation and free public college.

We also know the impact of student debt is hurting us, today. Through our national partners, we’ve created a bridge to desperately needed repayment resources to help borrowers manage the day-to-day stress of student debt.

  • Borrower Consults - free, expert & ethical advice to help borrowers figure out their next best step with respect to their debt through our partnership with TISLA.

  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) workshops - PSLF was designed to provide loan cancellation for educators, nonprofit and government employees. The program is cumbersome and very hard to navigate. We help borrowers navigate this program.

Let’s build power together!
