Cristher Estrada Perez

Executive Director

Cristher comes to SLF with over 5 years of experience fighting towards equity and racial justice in k-12 education. For the past year, she has been a dedicated member of the SLF all-volunteer advisory council, the Borrowers’ Collective. Cristher is guided by a deep understanding of intersectional and compounding forms of institutional oppression, anti-racist practices, decolonization, and collective liberation and healing. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Saint Joseph’s and a certificate in Education Program Evaluation from Georgetown University.

Prior to joining SLF, Cristher served as the Program Evaluation Strategist at RE-Center, Race & Equity in Education where she had the opportunity to incorporate her dedication to racial justice, education, research, and storytelling. During her time at RE-Center, she was a lead contributor to the Equity Informed School Climate Assessment (E.I.S.C.A), conducted in collaboration with Manchester Public Schools, and devised to report on the culture and climate of the district through a racial equity lense. To examine the educational, emotional, and social experiences of students, staff,  and families from marginalized groups to uncover institutional and systemic inequities that prevent all students from reaping the same social and educational benefits. She also had the opportunity to co-author Reflections on Educational Equity for the 2018 CT Kids Count Databook, to discuss educational equity in Connecticut, discipline and the school to prison pipeline, curriculum, teacher preparedness, cultural competence, and teacher demographics. Throughout her time with RE-Center, she had the opportunity to work closely as a facilitator, consultant, and strategist with school districts, non-profits, and other community-led organizations.
